Data and API

Every published figure can be downloaded as CSV or read through a free JSON API. Only figures that have been checked and approved are available. Each row carries its source, licence and dataset version.

GET /api/v1/indicators

All registered indicators with code, sector, unit and definition. Try it

GET /api/v1/observations?indicator=inflation&geo=nigeria

Published values. Filter by indicator (slug) and/or geo (slug, e.g. nigeria, lagos). Add &format=csv for CSV. Try it

GET /api/v1/breakdowns?indicator=dhs-stunting&geo=nigeria

Figures broken down by group: residence (urban, rural), wealth (poorest to richest fifth), education, sex, and economic activity (ISIC codes). Filter one group with &dimension=wealth. Survey figures include 95% confidence intervals where published. Try it

GET /api/v1/topics

The full classification: sectors, topics, indicators (with how each figure is produced, how often it is updated and its SDG target), and every breakdown group with its standard code. Try it

Find slugs on the Indicators page. Please credit the original publisher shown in each row; each source's licence is on the sources page. Without a key you can make 500 requests a day; a free key from the developer page raises that to 10,000.
